​When the spring rains arrive, if they do then in good years the desert west of Socorro puts on a spectcular flower show. These delicate flowers appeared on the rocky slopes of an old volcanic lava field. Their elegant conical spurs reminded me of reading Tintin in Tibet as a teenage.
