In the spring of 2005 the wildflowers bloomed all over Socorro County putting on a spectacular show that I had not witnessed in the 18 years I had lived here. Flowers I had never seen before sprung up through the hard stony desert floor.
By early May the river terraces south of my house were a carpet of multi-colored Prickly Pear cactus. I spent the spring months driving all over Socorro County to capture over 120 different species of wild flowers in bloom.
