Alpine Larkspur
Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake
The first snake I ever held was this Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake in 1992 after a wonderful camp trip with my future husband in the Gila National Forest. Until then I never knew how colorful snakes could be. This image reflects my joy at combining the most beautiful snake I have ever come across with flowers I photographed in Black Bear Basin on my last 4-wheeling adventure with my husband, Bobby in 2015. It was sleeting at Black Bear Pass but let up in the basin long enough to capture the flowers before we descended into Telluride.
