Claret Cup Cactus
Pincushion Cactus
I like to walk in the hills west of Socorro where the desert is brightened up in early spring by mounds of briliant red cactus flowers and one has to be careful not to step on the much smaller aptly named pincuhsion cactus with delicate soft whitish-pink flowers. In the spring of 2017 I chopped down my juniper tree, it really was not doing well but the bark looked lovely so I took a series of photographs before it was cut down to remember it by.
